JHernando installs an order preparation system for HEFAME in Pamplona
JHernando has developed a tailor-made order preparation solution for HEFAME at its Pamplona facility, featuring automatic lidding of up to 1,000 totes per hour and shipment sorting. The project strengthens JHernando’s position as a technology partner for pharma distributors and laboratories seeking to improve traceability and increase the operational capacity of their logistics centres.
HEFAME, one of Spain’s leading pharmaceutical distribution cooperatives, continues to advance the modernisation of its logistics processes in order to meet the demands of a particularly exacting sector, where precision, speed of service and reliability in order preparation are critical. Within this context, JHernando has designed and implemented a solution adapted to the specific requirements of the Pamplona facility, aimed at optimising tote flow and reinforcing efficiency across order preparation and dispatch operations.
The installation manufactured by JHernando also integrates an automatic lidding module with a capacity of up to 1,000 totes per hour. The system operates with two different tote formats, large and small, providing greater process flexibility and enabling adaptation to different order types. It also includes a shipment sorter that helps organise and streamline outbound order flows by routing totes to manual picking stations.

One of the key elements of the project was the development of a bespoke communication protocol for HEFAME, created by JHernando to ensure seamless integration between the installation and the client’s operational systems and requirements. This ability to adapt is particularly relevant in pharmaceutical logistics, where each facility may require specific flows, priorities and levels of control.
In projects such as HEFAME, JHernando’s value goes beyond manufacturing or integrating equipment: we seek to understand the client’s real operational needs and translate them into a reliable solution designed to perform in a highly demanding environment. Pharmaceutical logistics requires precision, continuity and responsiveness. Our role is to help make these processes safer, more robust and sustainable over time.
With this installation, JHernando continues to strengthen its expertise in the development of solutions for pharmaceutical logistics and laboratories, an area where automation has a direct impact on productivity and error reduction. The company combines engineering, manufacturing, integration and bespoke solution development to deliver projects that are fully aligned with each client’s reality, both in new installations and in the optimisation of already operational facilities.

The project carried out in Pamplona is another example of JHernando’s commitment to flexible and results-driven intralogistics. In a market where the efficiency of distribution centres is becoming increasingly strategic, the company continues to position itself as a specialised partner for businesses seeking to automate critical processes without compromising their ability to adapt.
